What if you were an Elf on the Shelf?

Imagine you were that little shelf sitting fellow whose only job is to blackmail small children before the holidays. What do you see? What do you hear?

Now share it in a post and link it back for the What if 2014 holiday challenge.

See all the details including the link up box in the original post.

Not sure how to tell your story? Check out my take on the challenge here.

Happy Holidays!

Oh and I also had some random holiday questions you might be interested in answering to help get you in the holiday spirit. They are:

1. Where is the weirdest place you found yourself on Christmas morning?

2. What is the one present you wanted badly and have never gotten?

3. What is the one thing you wanted badly, got and wished you hadn’t?

4. Have you ever re-gifted? If so what and why?

5. If Santa is real would you really want to meet him in person?

6. How many Elves could fit inside the biggest Christmas present you ever received?

7. What is your favorite holiday movie, show and/or song?

8. What is your least favorite holiday movie, show, and/or song?

9. What would you name a reindeer if you could? Why?

10. Do you think Santa could benefit from a healthier snack on Christmas eve or are cookies and milk the only choice? What would you recommend for the jolly old fat man?

You can see the original questions post on JED’s Playhouse here.

What if real life was Twitter-tweeted?

140 characters. Most anyone who uses social media knows what that statement represents. It’s all you get to say what you want in a tweet. Make it mean something!

Logo_twitter_wordmark_1000

So what if this feature took over in life. Communication made short and sweet.

  • Conversations would never be one sided again
  • Essays would be so much simpler
  • Lectures would be more bearable

Just think of the time that could be saved. It would be so much tougher to trick or con someone with those few characters.

  • Car salesmen would need to greatly change tactics
  • No one could tip toe around the truth
  • The talkative stranger on the Subway would be a bit less annoying

Granted telling stories would be a bit tougher but the challenge might be fun.

  • War is hell. Been there, done that. Still have nightmares. (Done – 79 characters)
  • Zombie ate everyone else’s brains. I escaped but it’s still out there. (Done – 91 characters and left open for a sequel)
  • Losers banded together. Lots of heart and they triumphed over the team of bullies with the crazed coach. (Done – 104 characters)

Yep, that was a lot of fun. I didn’t realize I was such a good writer. I know, maybe I used a couple stories that seem similar to some you may have heard before but I swear it’s my own original content.

What changes do you see in this Twitter based land? Do you have a story you would like to share? Remember it needs to be characters or less. It’s fun and I look forward to see what others come up with. I’m sure there are plenty better than mine.

Let’s start a hashtag for it. Maybe #fullstorytweet . I looked it up and didn’t find any others using this hashtag so I think it will work.

Please check out and share on twitter or facebook and let’s see how many we can get involved.

What if I survived an entire year of blogging?

Yes folks. It’s been a full year since I joined the blogosphere with an idea. An idea about the possibility of the what if’s of the world. Who knew I could be here a full year later and still be coming up with new ideas for posts?

Granted it’s been a little slow around here lately, but that’s because of a few things keeping me busy in my personal life and not a mental block or lack of ideas. Believe me they still come to me daily, I just need the time and energy to share them. Hopefully that will pick up soon.

00-30-55-141_150All in all I am quite proud of what this site has become. I have enjoyed the interactions with other bloggers I now call friends and seeing how they react to my what if scenarios and even enjoying some of theirs. I have used the experience I learned here to launch two other blogs I also enjoy. I have reached deep inside myself and found a part of me I didn’t know still existed.

This other me is the creative one. He has been extremely grateful to have found a place to share his poems, short stories and just random thoughts. In the last 365 days there has been nearly 300 posts, over 20000 views and more than 2500 comments made on the blog. I would have laughed at the start if someone told me a year later these stats would be true.

Over the next few days I will reshare a few of my first posts along with a couple of my favorites. I hope to continue to grow the world of What if’s long into the future while keeping the ideas fresh, creative and sometimes maybe a bit weird. Thanks to all those who have come along for the ride so far and I look forward to entertaining many more in the future.

I have already had a couple great bloggers join in to share their what if ideas here on the site and I would gladly accept a few more into the family. If you have any thoughts or ideas you think could make a great post or think you could contribute to the site please let me know at thoughts@okaywhatif.com or thenotoriousjed@gmail.com.

What if we started a Blog Fight Club? Part Two

Okay I received a lot of positive response to my initial idea to start a blog fight club. I have done a little behind the scenes work and a little more thinking on the subject.

I picked up the blog name http://blogfightclub.wordpress.com and have done an initial layout. I plan to lose the wordpress part but the money just won’t allow it right now and I’m nowhere near ready for launch.

My initial idea for bracketed type challenges is still a good possibility, but I have also been thinking about the possibility of blogger challenging blogger to a blog-off. Maybe a debate style head to head matchup about a particular subject with one side for and one side against. The fight could be announced and promoted on blog Fight Club and then each blogger post on their own site.

There is also a possibility of picking two comparable subjects and having bloggers pick sides until a winner is announced. I participated in a tug of war on The Matticus Kingdom between Marvel Comics and DC a few months back that worked this way. It was a lot of fun and could work on this new site as well.

Just a few more ideas I have been working on. If you have any of your own please let me know. If you want to step over and check out the layout of the new blog you can, just know it is in a construction phase.

I will add another update when I have more info or any decisions have been made. Thank you to everyone for their support.

What if we started a blog fight club?

Okay I had this really weird thought on the way home today. It started out with a bit of silliness trying to think about a good blog post. Somehow I started thinking about fight club (not at all sure why, haven’t seen it in years) and it wiggled it’s way into my blog thoughts.

Next thing I know I’m paraphrasing the famous movie line “The first rule of blog fight club is, you tell everybody about blog fight club!”. Then I just started giggling at myself until suddenly I thought That could actually make a real, entertaining adventure for us bloggers!

blogfightSo let me explain a little bit about the way I think it could work. Let’s use a bracket style concept and say we start with sixteen blogs. Each blogger writes about the same subject but using their own style. They hold their post and don’t publish until told their bracket spot is active. Continue reading

What if I highlighted a couple new blogs for you?

I don’t normally do this but seeing as the What if thought juice was running a little dry this week (I couldn’t quite get a regular post written) I figured why not! I have a couple brand new blogs to tell you about.

First off I need to introduce you to a Fictionally Fabulous Character created by our very own Indecisive Eeejit. May Dupp had so much spirit she worked her way right into her very own blog. Please take a minute to visit The Misadventures of May Dupp and show her some follower love!

Next is a creation from my own mind. I have been known to, on occasion, go on a ranting fit. If I find the right thing I can easily let out a few sentences about just how much it has annoyed me. The problem is I normally either don’t say it or just mumble it under my breath. So I figured, why not say it on a blog!

Please head over and join the ranting on The Ranting Never Stops. I want it to be not only my place to go and rant, but a place for others to share their rants as well. You can be a follower and just enjoy the rants or be a contributor and share yours. Just check out the contact page to find out how. angry-mob1

A couple new places to get your chills and thrills, or to just enjoy a fun blog post. Thanks for stopping in and please check out these new sites.

What if I welcomed some company?

These last few weeks I made a decision to expand Okay, What if? and add a few more authors/contributors to the sight. I asked for volunteers and it’s time to welcome some new bloggers to my site. I’m still okay with a couple more contributors so if you think you could add to our little what if world just let me know. I hope to start seeing posts from the new site author’s very soon.

robOur first new addition is a fairly established well known blogger who has been a major factor in my own development over the last six months. He has spent a large amount of his comments here on the site encouraging me and helping build the sites audience even without being an official part of the site. Rob who is best known for his own blog Rob’s Surf Report where he has been entertaining his audience since 2010. He has recently established his very own writing challenge unlike any other. The Genre Haiku Challenge is in it’s third month and going very well. check it out when you get the time.
